Brad Guesman (Lead Guitar, Lead Vocals)
I started playing piano when I was about five years old. When I was 11, I picked up a guitar for the first time, and there was just something about it that really felt right. My dad introduced me to artists like The Doors, Led Zeppelin, and Eric Clapton. As I began to explore music on my own, I started being influenced by everything from old blues guys like T-Bone Walker to more modern Indie-electronic pop akin to Phantogram. In 37th Parallel, I play guitar and sing lead vocals, also writing most of the songs for the group. Outside of the band, I play jazz guitar and study under Bay Area jazz master, Rick Vandivier. Non-musically I enjoy running, golf, and building things (anything!).
AJ Pelayo (Drums, Vocals)
Encouraged at a young age, I picked up the drums to supplement my grade-school education. 3rd grade classical training led to 5th grade rock and roll, eventually advancing to 8th grade funk and high school jazz. Listening to Neil Peart, John Bonham, Mitch Mitchell, and Carter Beauford, I have grown up with a multitude of styles in mind. Attending my local Community School of Music and Arts, I've met dozens of talented and fantastic artists as well as gained skills in a number of percussion instruments and genres. A three-year running merit scholar, I have every reason to thank my parents for placing me into those first musical lessons. Meshing music into this teenage life has been a dream come true!
Philip Chang (Keyboards/Synthesizers)
I began my journey in music through the stereotypical asian way: classical piano. Starting at age 5, I drudged my way through classical piano lessons, recitals, and Certificate of Merit tests. When I was in middle school and joined the band, I was completely new to music that was not classical or pop. Through the band, I've been able to genuinely enjoy playing the keys, as well as exploring and integrating different genres into my style of playing. I will always be grounded in the tone of classical piano, but I have taken influences from the upright rock of Toto to the funky keys of Stevie Wonder. Some other interests of mine include tennis, League of Legends, the Rubik's Cube, and basketball.
Eric Dyer (Bass, Vocals)
Music has been a big part of my entire life. I have always loved listening to the classics like Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, The Doors, and AC/DC- all genres of classic rock satisfied my urge to listen. Eventually, I started playing music and, like most kids, I picked up guitar but I never could get the hang of it. I never liked the way the last two strings were tuned, so I thought that I could get rid of that by switching to bass. I’ve played bass for about 5 years now, and I love it. Whenever I pick it up my bass feels like I’m at home, it feels natural. About 3 years into playing bass, I joined 37th Parallel. While music is a big part of my life, I also have other hobbies. I golf as much as I can (often with Brad). I also play soccer with friends from time to time in pick up games.
